Engineered layer by layer
A pressure-care mattress is a system of foams with different densities, surface profiles and a cover. This page explains how we put them together.
Layered construction
Most of our mattresses combine two to four foam layers. Softer or visco-elastic foams sit at the patient contact surface; firmer foams below carry the load. Each product page lists every layer with its density, and its thickness where published.
The exploded view below takes Ventiwa, a Treatment-series mattress, apart layer by layer.
Inside Ventiwa — Every layer has a job.

Layers
- 200 × 90 × 17 cm, 11.9 kgSpecified for patients from 40 to 150 kg.
- Gel-infused visco-elastic top layer50 kg/m³ foam at the patient contact surface.
- Ventilation layerReticulated foam between the top layer and the base.
- Base layer and side supportsA 40 kg/m³ base, and 30 kg/m³ side supports with reticulated foam.
CNC-cut surface profiles
Surface profiles — channels, cubes and zones — are cut on CNC machines. This keeps the geometry repeatable from one production batch to the next and lets us adapt profiles to custom sizes.
Pressure-mapping checks
During development we compare designs with pressure-mapping measurements, which show how load is distributed across the mattress surface. Results depend on the patient and the care setting; pressure-injury risk assessment remains the responsibility of the clinical team.
Covers and materials
Our medical covers come in fabric weights from 110 to 200 g/m², so the cover can be matched to the mattress and the care setting. Ask us for the test documentation of a specific cover.
